Needle Felted Hare

This chap has just been delivered. He reminds me a little of the Egyptian statues of the goddess of protection - Bastet, which as a good thing as he'll be in time to watch over his new owner this Christmas.

Needle felted from wool tops, this hare stands 12.5cm tall.

Baby It's Cold Outside

I have had a few commissions recently and as this guy has now been given as a birthday present so I can safely post a pic without spoiling any surprises!

Made from needle felted merino wool and wrapped up in a Harris tweed scarf this fox knows there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing! Other materials include Designers Guild velvet and a vintage glass dome.

On the scrounge!

New needle felted fox going into my Folksy shop. This textile sculpture is a little larger than my other pieces and requires a few finishing touches but once completed he'll be on the lookout for some tasty treats, though truth be told, he's not fussy!

Frivolous Friday

Toad of Toad Small

Found this beauty at the end of September.
Gave him a little peck but fear that he may have been trading off his close relations fairy tale status as he remained untransformed in all his miniature, warty glory.

Let Them Eat Cake (and Cookies)

The very talented Lucy Samuels at Honeycat Cookies used the following painting,  'Autumn Fairies' by Arthur Rackham to create a box of beautiful, bespoke, hand painted cookies for my mums birthday.

My photos really don't do them justice but needless to say my mum was thrilled and so once they'd been presented, I spread the contents out to be enjoyed at a family tea party (mental note to self, think of something similar to give next year which I can also benefit from!!)

The hand painted windswept fairies took centre stage on a raised dish

The centre piece was surrounded by a fairy ring of micro lights, hand turned wooden mushrooms, fabric oak leaves and Egyptian blown glass bottles

Lucy's hand painted, acorns, mushrooms and autumn leaves were dotted between the plates on heart shaped lace doilies

Polar Bear & The Northern Lights

A friend suggested I felt a Polar Bear and the comment must have sunk into my subconscious because that night I dreamt of a fine beast ranging through the icy night whilst the Northen Lights hung in the sky and reflected off his sparkling fur.
He will be available in my Folksy shop tomorrow (1/11)

Frivolous Friday

Just a frivolous Friday night post today.
Spent a lovely weekend in the New Forest and spotted this motley crew in the woods behind Burley village. Have developed a new tagline which the New Forest Tourist Board are welcome to adopt off the back of the photo I took...

'The New Forest, come for the ponies, stay for the piggies.'
Preeety sure I'll be receiving my thank you card from The Board shortly!

Faux Taxidermy Kingfisher

I am tempted to name this kingfisher Hercules as I feel his creation may be legitimately added as the 13th labour - No 1. Slay the Nemean Lion... No 13. Needle felt a Kingfisher.
He is currently suffering the indignity of being propped up by dress pins until he can cling to his perch with confidence.
Over the next couple of days he will be housed in a glass case and available in my Folksy shop.
